Anxiety

Anxiety is the #1 mental health issue in this country.  40 million Americans have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.

People suffering from anxiety usually have excessive worry that is difficult to control.  It can seem persistent and invasive.  There is often an irrational expectation of negative outcomes.  People with anxiety can find it difficult to relax.  Sufferers might have physical symptoms.  For some, anxiety can spiral into panic attacks.

In therapy, you can learn to identify triggers, learn calming skills and how to increase your stress tolerance.  Cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness have been shown to help people learn these techniques and to moderate their anxiety.  I work with clients on how to self regulate, anticipate and moderate anxiety.
